Actually, I think commentary (and opinions) could be good, if done right.
For instance, it would be really useful to hear about the historical backdrop of the stories, or even have a minimal language guide. Some of the Tamizh idioms in Kalki's works can get very sophisticated.
If these were presented as a post-script at the end of each episode, it would be an unintrusive experience for the listeners.
Anyways, just a thought.

I just downloaded and listened to another podcast. There the speaker gives off his opinions along with the story. It is not very appealing.
