Atmyachi Bhook - Craving of Your Soul

Duration 23m 21s

mp3 download

According to William James, the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated. There is nothing people need so much as nourishment for their self-esteem. It strengthens your motivation to do even better, strive even harder, explore newer areas. Yet, the Indian culture in which we grew up in the sixties and seventies undermined this basic need completely. Sincere appreciation was misconstrued as flattery. Excessive stress on humility robbed us of a feeling of self-worth and hindered us from developing self-confidence. But the legacy need not be carried on. In fact, by nourishing the feeling of self-worth, we can help build a more confident, self-assured new generation.
