Desi Life in North America
Here are the recordings of my seminar & workshops.
First generation of Indians have achieved in less than half century that no previous generation Indians has ever achieved! Success in education, profession and business are just few of the examples. This is achievements pales compared to the next generation of Desis they brought in this world.
ABCD = American born Cute Desi (yes, they are much better looking than us) and American Born Champion Desi (they brought more trophies and awards than 100 of us!) are shining stars in North America.
Along with success we are also facing new challanges. How does thousands of years old culture and tradition and eastern philosophy adapt to the new enviornment? I have been speaking on this subject for nearly a decade now.
Many a times, after my presentations at various locations, members of the audience have expressed desire to share my views with their friends or family. Thanks to Podbazaar it is now possible.
The postings are recording of my live presentations. Sometimes sound quality may not be optimal.
Due to time constraints and sponteneous nature of presentation some of the thoughts may not be expressed in detail as I would like. But as you listen to them you might get the drift of it.
Those of you who have heard me know that my views sometime are non-traditional (or may be I am slightly ahead of my time!) Language shall be politically incorrect. I have not recieved any special training in this field. (I am a surgeon and not a psychologist or psychiatrist!) I have not done any scientific studies about our lives. My views are based on the experience with more than one thousand Desi youth and their parents that I have talked to over the years.
Stories I tell are for the purpose of making a point. They are all based on true incidences but I have changed the name and location of stories I share with you. Any resemblance to your personal situation may be purely a co incidence.
My goal is to create a discussion of many issues we Desis face in our lives and hopefully it will lead to needed changes in our behavior as a community.
I do not ask you to substitute your judgement for mine unless of course, it makes sense to you.
