During his Vamana Avatharam, Mahavishnu had asked for 3 steps of soil from king Mahabali.But Sukracharya(guru of asuras) trying to save king,became a bee and blocked the hole of kamandalam.Mahavishnu sensing the trick, pulled the bee with a straw which took one eye of sukra. Sukra worshipped lord at this sthalam and got back his eye.
