In this chapter titled "Irulil oru kural" (A voice in the dark), Gundodharan tries to plug the breech that was caused by Naganandhi. At the same time the budhist monk tries to stop him. A fight ensues between the two and at that time a strong voice calls out to stop the fight and to stop trying to plug the breech and instead save Sivagami and Aayanar. Gundodharan understand that it is the King's voice and tries to wade thru the rain and the dark to Asokapuram.
