Your last podcast is both enjoyable and instructive. I didn't know there were Indians in Brazil or that Punjabi men married Mexican women in the 19th century America. Thank you for the interesting link to the website on early Punjabi pioneers. I learned a lot.
Smitha, do you know if descendants of these "global" :-)) Punjabi / Mexican couples took part in the United Farm Workers movements in the sixties and seventies, led by the legendary Cesar Chavez.
Cesar Chavez, inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, went on numerous fasts to call attention to the California migrant worker's cause and to encourage them to remain committed to non-violence:
