draped in an oppressive white sheet appears in a history textbook that is currently used in Redwood Middle School, Saratoga. The lesson on Greek and Roman history shows in contrast, scientists engaged in deep experiment. It is subtle imagery in textbooks that determines the way children perceive cultures from a very young age. In the two decades that Mona has attempted to bring about universal awareness in California schools; she has encountered threats from many unexpected quarters.
